Macs Bridge Sunday May 23rd 2021

Mac's Bridge 23rd May 2021

This annual event was cancelled in 2020 due to the covid restrictions  but will run with Covid compliant protocols in place in May 2021.

This is one of the biggest car events held in Qld and multiple car clubs attend en masse and the clubs also compete for  best club.  I’d like us to win the title this time!  We already have the best cars, lets show them off.

It would be nice if we can have a complete  Cobra stand with Marquees, Coffee, Tea and  a BBQ etc.

Macs Bridge - A brief History

Each year on Mothers day, TSOAQ hosts the Macleans Bridge Classic Car Display. The event has its origins back to the 70’s and started in the park adjacent to Macleans Bridge on Beaudesert Road, south-west of Brisbane CBD. After many years in the original location it moved to a couple of other locations including Lakeside raceway. The event now has a larger and more established home at the Queensland Rifle Association complex at Belmont, just east of Brisbane on Old Cleveland Rd, near the Chandler sports complex.

This is a huge event with hundreds of classic sports cars and Grand Tourers on display. For people into old or new classic cars, this has always been a must attend event and a great day out.

Over the years TSOAQ, who have tried to keep up with changing car trends, yet remain faithful to the intention of having a special day just for sports and “classic sporting” cars. Each major brand is allocated space, and where practical , the sporting saloons are separated from the sports cars. Vehicles from the 30’s to current typically attend: Triumph, Healey, Jaguar, MG, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Delage, Morgan, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, AC, Lotus, Allard, Bolwell, NIssan, to name a few.

Car clubs are encouraged to have a place where existing & prospective members can come for information, support etc. Many clubs have well-organised BBQ’s etc.. The TSOAQ runs a competition for “best car of the day”, that all entrants and public can vote for. There is organised parking for about 700 cars, and plenty of room for non-display cars, so don’t avoid coming just because you don’t have a show car.
